Mistletoe walk in Vrijhern (Hoeselt)

Light undulating walk starting at the Hermit’s Cell of Vrijhern (Hoeselt).
The walk goes along beautiful forested areas and grasslands with a lot of mistletoe in the trees.

The hermit's cell is only open on Sundays from 14:30 to 18:30.
The accompanying café In D'Oude Gewoonte is run by volunteers then.
The café’s lounge area with a spacious outdoor terrace is housed in the former classrooms of the hermitage.

On the walk through the forests and fields, one frequently encounters trees with mistletoe.
It is best to take the walk during a dry period as Haspengouw has heavy clay soils.

Halfway through the walk, there is a possibility for a snack and/or a drink at Brasserie De Tommen in Sint-Hubertus Herne.
The 5 km walk can be shortened at two places (by making shortcuts).

To reach the hermitage of Vrijhern, one must drive along a winding gravel path.
However, there is ample parking available close to the hermitage.
