Moosalp – Legendary Mountain Passes Velo in Visp

From Visp you begin the climb for a few kilometres in the valley that brings you to Zermatt and Saas-Fee along the river Vispa. You will pass through the small village of Ackersand that has the distinction of being the driest place in Switzerland. Just before Stalden, the road begins to steepen, and as you leave the village you turn right towards Törbel and the Moosalp pass. As you gain altitude along this vertiginous cliff-side road, the views before you become increasingly grandiose! Towards the summit, the pristine nature of this climb will not fail to make the Moosalp pass one of your favourite bike rides.
Leaving Visp towards the famous resort of Zermatt, the incline is never too difficult until the village of Stalden. The road then steepens to get to Törbel, and the view over the surrounding valleys is impressive. You might get to see some traditional Valais black-nosed sheep in the pastures along the climb. Just opposite, the village of Gspon, home of the highest football pitch in Europe, will come into view as you gain altitude. Several kilometres before the summit, the environment becomes mesmerizing and magical, making this, without doubt, one of the most beautiful climbs in the Alps. 
At the summit, don’t miss out on the delicious “mille-feuilles” at the Moosalp restaurant!
Frequent train connections from all over Switzerland via the Lötschberg tunnel or the Simplon line to Visp.
Take the cantonal street 9 from Brig or Sierre to Visp.

We recommend: bike in excellent working order, helmet, gloves and bell, clothing suitable for the weather (always carry a waterproof), food and drink.
