Karstädt is an independent municipality in the district of Prignitz in Brandenburg. The municipal area is identical to the administrative area of the Office of Karstädt, which existed from 1992 to 2003.
Karstädt is located in the northwest of the state of Brandenburg. Southwest parts of the municipal area lie within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve River Landscape Elbe-Brandenburg. Within the municipal borders, the Tarnitz, the Karwe, and other small rivers and ditches flow into the Löcknitz. The Meynbach runs along the border to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
