Hille

Hille is a locality in the municipality of the same name in the Minden-Lübbecke district in East Westphalia-Lippe.

It lies north of the Mittelland Canal and the Wiehen Mountains and south of the Mindener Forest. To the east, Hille-Dorf borders the districts of Südhemmern, Nordhemmern, and Holzhausen II, as well as the district of Friedewalde in the city of Petershagen; to the north, it borders the Nienburg district in Lower Saxony; to the west, it borders the cities of Espelkamp and Lübbecke; and to the south, it borders the districts of Eickhorst and Unterlübbe.
The locality of Hille comprises about 40 percent of the total area of the Hille municipality. In addition to the village core itself, most of the sparsely populated or very thinly populated areas belong to this district, such as the Hille shares in the Großes Torfmoor and the Mindener Forest. However, the densely populated Lübbecke loess region does not include the locality of Hille. This explains why the very name-giving and by far the most populous locality and administrative center of the Hille municipality, with 97 inhabitants/km², has the lowest population density of all the Hille localities.
