Lebenstedt, formerly Hermann-Göring-Stadt, is a borough of the town of Salzgitter, Lower Saxony, Germany.
The village of Lebenstedt had only 526 inhabitants in 1933. The city was founded in 1937 under the name "Hermann-Göring-Stadt" to house the workers of the Reichswerke Hermann Göring. The location of the town was chosen 5 km west of the steelworks to be outside the fumes of the chimneys. Until 31 March 1942, Lebenstedt belonged to the district of Wolfenbüttel, after which it became part of the metropolis of Watenstedt-Salzgitter. On January 23, 1951, the town was named "Salzgitter".
