Lebenstedt es uno de los 31 barrios de la ciudad independiente de Salzgitter en Baja Sajonia, ubicada en la localidad de Nord. La antigua aldea de Lebenstedt perteneció hasta el 31 de marzo de 1942 al distrito de Wolfenbüttel y se convirtió, a través de una ley el 1 de abril de 1942, en parte de la gran ciudad de Watenstedt-Salzgitter, que fue renombrada como Salzgitter a partir de enero de 1951.
Lebenstedt es el barrio más poblado y constituye el centro administrativo de Salzgitter. Se encuentra al norte de la ciudad y pertenece a la localidad de Nord, una de las siete localidades en las que se divide la extensa ciudad de Salzgitter.
