Kothen

The Wuppertal residential quarter Kothen is one of ten quarters of the district of Barmen. The quarter has emerged from one of the medieval original farms of Barmen.
The residential area, covering 1.85 km², is located at the foot of the Wuppertal southern heights. To the north, it is bordered by the railway line Elberfeld–Dortmund, to the east by the streets Fischertal and Obere Lichtenplatzer Straße, and to the west by the Oberbergische Straße. To the south, the quarter borders the forested area Kothener Busch without a natural boundary line to the residential quarter Lichtenplatz. The bodies of water include the Fischertaler, the Springer, the Kothener, and the Auer Bach. The northern part of the residential quarter is densely populated, while the southern slopes are largely forested.
