The "Leaning Bridge" led the old route of the Dortmund-Ems Canal over the Oststraße, the former B 235, in Olfen. Today, the bridge trough is no longer filled with water and is used as a cycling and hiking trail.
The bridge is one of the four historic bridges of the Old Voyage of the Dortmund-Ems Canal between Datteln and Olfen. Further south, the DEK crosses the Pelkumer Weg and the Lippe with the Alte fahrt canal bridge. Further north, a canal bridge crosses the Stever.
