Randauer Baggerloch

The Randauer Baggerloch is located in the middle of the Elbe meadows on the right bank of the Elbe. A little east of the lake runs the Elbe dike, so that in the event of a flood of the Elbe, the Randauer Baggerloch and its surroundings are also affected by the flooding. West of the lake runs a dirt road over which the Westerhüsen ferry can be reached. To the east runs a dirt road to Randau.
The lake was created by gravel mining, but this was already discontinued in the middle of the 20th century. Although the lake has no designated bathing area or other management, it is used as a bathing lake. The greatest length of the lake is about 380 meters from northwest to southeast, and the width of the lake in an east/west direction is about 150 meters at its widest point. In the middle of the lake there is a small island. The Randau excavator hole is lined with trees. Around the south shore is a small piece of forest.
