Comenius College Mettingen

The Comenius College in Mettingen is a further education college named after Johann Amos Comenius, serving as a second-chance educational institution. It was established on June 8, 1972, through the takeover by the Brazilian Province of the Franciscan Order and is located in the former secondary school of Mettingen.

Affiliated with the Comenius College for obtaining both professional and general university entrance qualifications is the preparatory college for obtaining the assessment examination for students from all countries, particularly Brazilian students. The school is supported by the German-Brazilian scholarship foundation St. Antonius. The current principal is Thorsten Bahlmann, who succeeded Father Osmar Gogolok. He took over from his confrere Father Serafin, who was the first director of the college.
The library of the scientific institute for Brazilian studies, also located there, is one of the largest specialized libraries on Brazil in the German-speaking world, boasting more than 45,000 volumes.
