The Uebachtal nature reserve covers around 16.9 hectares. It is located between Niederndorf and Oberschelden.
The area is mostly covered with forest. In the "center," the valley, the small stream Uebach flows, which gains more volume from the incoming rills. The fields it flows through have either been converted into wild meadows or are used agriculturally. The fish ponds located within the protected area are to be kept as close to nature as possible. The forests mainly consist of broadleaf mixed forest and Scots pine forest; in the eastern part of the reserve, spruce covers a larger area. However, the spruce area will be reforested in the future, so that it too will be covered with broadleaf mixed forest as closely to nature as possible. The trees in the area include, among others, Scots pine, pedunculate oak, red beech, birches, willows, spruces, and alders. Among the shrubs, hazelnut and broom bushes are particularly common. The 16.9-hectare nature reserve was established on December 18, 2003. It lies at an altitude of between 280 and 350 meters above sea level. The goal is to preserve the near-natural ecosystem with the native endangered animal and plant species found there. In contrast to most other forests in the Siegerland, the Uebachtal has been almost completely spared from the hurricane Kyrill, with only the spruce and pine areas suffering from windthrow.
