The Karfreit Barracks is a former barracks of the Bundeswehr Army in Brannenburg in the state of Bavaria. The barracks was named after the Battle of Karfreit in World War I.
As part of the rearmament of the Wehrmacht, the Karfreit Barracks were constructed in 1935/36 in the district of Degerndorf by the Army Construction Administration. Construction workers from Brannenburg-Degerndorf and the surrounding municipalities were involved. The Brannenburg-Degerndorf garrison housed the I Battalion of Mountain Infantry Regiment 100 starting in 1936; during World War II, replacement and training units were stationed here. After the occupation period, the Bundeswehr took over the barracks. Until 2010, the Mountain Engineer Battalion 8 with five companies, more than 1000 soldiers, and around 200 civilian employees was stationed there.
