Reichsrat von Buhl Winery

The winery Reichsrat von Buhl is located in the rural town of Deidesheim in the wine-growing region of Pfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate. It predominantly produces Riesling wines on an area of approximately 56 hectares and is a member of the Association of German Prädikat and Quality Wineries e. V. .

The family's estate was registered in the land register in 1849 under the name Franz Peter Buhl, which is considered the founding of the winery; however, the family had already gained experience in viticulture earlier. The founder and first owner of the house Franz Peter Buhl, a member of the Baden and later the Bavarian state parliaments, inherited numerous vineyards, fields, and houses from his brothers Peter Heinrich Jordan and Andreas Jordan, which formed the basis for the new winery. Buhl received part of the inheritance because his mother Barbara was a sister of Peter Heinrich Jordan and his wife Josefine was the daughter of Andreas Jordan. The share of the inheritance that Buhl received comprised about 62 acres of vineyards.
