St. Nicholas

The Church of St. Nicholas is a Roman Catholic church in Felsberg, a district of the Saarland municipality of Überherrn, in the district of Saarlouis. The patron saint of the church is Saint Nicholas. It is listed as a monument in the monument list of Saarland.
After the official founding of the then Duchy of Lorraine village of Felsberg in 1704, the Catholics living there were assigned to the parish of Berus, whose pastoral care was the responsibility of the Premonstratensians of the Abbey of Wadgassen. Due to the long distance that the Felsberg residents had to travel to attend services in Berus, they petitioned the Lorraine Duke and King of Poland Stanislaus I Leszczyński and the Bishop of Metz Claude de Saint Simon in 1736 for the establishment of their own parish. In return, the Felsberg residents promised to build a church and a school. The separation from Berus and the establishment of the independent parish of Felsberg finally took place on February 15, 1756. One of the canons of the Abbey of Wadgassen continued to serve the parish ministry from Berus. As a consequence of the French Revolution and the associated dissolution of the Abbey of Wadgassen in 1792, Felsberg no longer had a pastor as of May 1794 at the latest.
