The Via Romana is a cycling route in the Dutch and German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The cycle route is 257 kilometres long. It consists of two parts: a northern part, 98 kilometres long, which follows the course of the Rhine, and a southern part, 159 kilometres long, which passes through several places.
The route of the Via Romana follows a former Roman road built in the first half of the first century to the west of the Rhine, to connect the military encampments located there. The most important towns on the route were Ulpia Noviomagus Batavorum and Colonia Ulpia Traiana, which was located near Xanten. Nijmegen and Xanten are the terminus of the Via Romana.
