Hohe Dubrau

The Hohe Dubrau is a hilly landscape in the district of Görlitz near the town of the same name, Hohendubrau. The name also refers to the main peak, which, at 307 m above sea level, is the highest elevation in the natural area of Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Region.
At its core, in the peaks of Hohe Dubrau and Kollmer Dubrau, the Monument Mountain, and Hobians Horken, the Precambrian bedrock with old greywackes emerges, interspersed with so-called Dubrau quartzite from the Ordovician period. The central high grounds near Groß Radisch are lightly covered with loess and are surrounded by end moraines from the Elster ice age near Dauban, Kollm, and Kleinsaubernitz, by ground moraines around Gebelzig, as well as by various Pleistocene sand flats and terraces. In the adjacent hilly area of Dubrauke, there are gravel banks from an early Pleistocene tributary of the Elbe. At the Kollmer Gemeindeberg, near Diehsa, and in the east of Dubrauke, tertiary clay and lignite layers emerge at the surface, and Devonian rocks are found at the southern shore of the Quitzdorf reservoir.
