Frankfurter Brauhaus

Beer has been brewed in the old shopping town of the Oder since the early Middle Ages, but more recently only soft drinks and beers from Berlin breweries have been bottled. This only changed in 1988 with the foundation of the Oderland-Brauerei, the main establishment of the VEB Getränkekombinat Frankfurt/Oder. After the dissolution of the VEB, the company was sold in 1991 to Brau und Brunnen, which established its production activities for Schultheiss-Brauerei there. Investments are made in the Frankfurt plant, which specialises in bottom-fermented beer brewing and bottling in cans and bottles. For the 750th anniversary of the city in 2003, it was announced that Brau und Brunnen would like to close the Frankfurt site due to a lack of can sales. Two East German entrepreneurs take over the brewery, which is the first of the four major breweries to be owned by TCB.

The brewery mainly brews beers as a private label of German hard-discounts and other trading companies. The own brands are Spitzkrug, Pilsator and as a regional brand Frankfurter. The latter was labelled "brewed in Frankfurt am Oder" for several years to avoid any confusion with Frankfurt am Main.
