Border strip between Teistungen and Ecklingerode

The border strip between Teistungen and Ecklingerode is a nature reserve in the district of Eichsfeld in Thuringia, near the southern border of Lower Saxony. It extends over parts of the municipalities of Teistungen, Wehnde, and Ecklingerode.
The area covers 147.1 hectares in Untereichsfeld and consists of a strip of land about 7.8 km long and 80 to 250 m wide along the former inner-German border; a forest area is also included northwest of Wehnde. The nature reserve is part of the Green Belt and is located between the towns of Teistungen and Gerblingerode in Hahletal, as well as Ecklingerode and Fuhrbach in the North Thuringian Buntsandstein region. According to the Handbook of Natural Spatial Division of Germany, the area belongs to the Eichsfeld Basin.
