The District Court of Erfurt is responsible in all areas of ordinary jurisdiction for the entire area of the state capital Erfurt. It is also responsible for foreclosure and compulsory administration proceedings from the district of the District Court of Sömmerda. Furthermore, it serves as the insolvency court for the entire district of the Regional Court of Erfurt.
The District Court of Erfurt is housed in the building of the Justice Center Erfurt. It was constructed from 1999 to 2001 and is located in Erfurt at Rudolfstr. 46. The Labor Court of Erfurt, the Thuringian State Social Court, the Thuringian State Labor Court, and the Public Prosecutor's Office of Erfurt are also located in the same building.
