The Maria Veen Bird Park was founded in 1971 and is managed by the Association for the Protection of Nature and Birds (President Werner Homoet: tel. 02864/2808). Visitors can look forward to majestic bird life in the wonderfully located complex, located in the forest. About 50 different species of parakeets and macaws call it home. The area is always well maintained with its more than 400 birds in about 90 aviaries and is known far beyond the city limits. The bird and small animal exchange takes place every third Sunday of the month (from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.).
