Holtwick Home House

The Heimat House Holtwick originated from a former peasant house, which was built in the middle of the 19th century on the site of the former Holtwicker poorhouse. The exterior and the floor plan of the house have remained largely unchanged over the long decades, so that today one can still get a fairly accurate idea of the living conditions of the Holtwicker citizens at the beginning of the 19th century.
The building is the last remaining original peasant house of the characteristic church ring development in the old town center. The gable front dates from the middle of the 19th century, with a half-timbered construction and a presumed back half-timbered gable from the early 17th century; the inner layout with a front living area and a rear economic area with a gate is still completely preserved.
