The Protestant Church of St. Boniface is located in the town of Sömmerda in the district of Sömmerda in Thuringia. It belongs to the Parish of St. Boniface Sömmerda in the Eisleben-Sömmerda church district of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany.
The first documentary mention dates back to 1436. The basement of the church tower indicates a Romanesque predecessor building. The current large single-nave church with a slightly retracted, polygonal closing choir and a powerful choir flank tower built on the north side of the choir was probably constructed in two main building phases at the turn of the 15th to the 16th century. An inscription on the tower indicates 1462 as the year construction began. The year 1482 on the mensa of the high altar is presumably also the year the choir was completed. A relief plate with a sundial and the year 1502 is attached to a choir buttress.
