Gräfinau-Angstedt is a locality in the Ilm-Kreis district in Thuringia. It is a district of the town of Ilmenau. In the local dialect, the place is called Granowwe.
Gräfinau-Angstedt is located in the Ilmtal valley about 6 km east of the core town of Ilmenau. The valley is approximately 1500 meters wide here and extends in a north-south direction. The locality is situated at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level. To the west rises the 527-meter-high Wolfsberg, which is the namesake of the former municipality of Wolfsberg. To the east are the 487-meter-high Hopfberg and the 498-meter-high Brandberg, both of which belong to the Klosterforst Paulinzella.
