Gräfinau-Angstedt è un luogo nel distretto di Ilm in Turingia. È una frazione della città di Ilmenau. Nel dialetto locale, il luogo è chiamato Granowwe.
Gräfinau-Angstedt si trova nella Valle dell'Ilm a circa 6 km a est del centro città di Ilmenau. La valle è qui larga circa 1500 metri e si estende in direzione nord-sud. Il luogo si trova a circa 400 metri di altitudine sul livello del mare. A ovest si erge il Wolfsberg, alto 527 metri, che è il nome della precedente comunità di Wolfsberg. A est si trovano l'Hopfberg, alto 487 metri, e il Brandberg, alto 498 metri, che appartengono al bosco del monastero di Paulinzella.
