Oberrahmede

Oberrahmede is a district of Lüdenscheid in the Märkischer Kreis and is located in the upper Rahmedetal between the towns of Lüdenscheid and Altena. Until 1968, the area belonged to the municipality of Lüdenscheid-Land and has been a part of Lüdenscheid since January 1, 1969.

The area developed as an industrial settlement. Once, the ores that were extracted from the nearby Hunscheid heights until 1640 were processed here. The old farm, which first appeared in documents in 1633 as "Hüttebrocks Hof," already had a "Schmitte" at that time, where Diederich Hüttebroch forged the Hunscheid iron. The forge, along with the associated cot, was located near the present church and the old primary school on the later estate of August Lösenbeck. It was the time of the Thirty Years' War. In 1633, the estate had to pay 42 Stüber as war contributions. In 1636 and 1641, Grete Hüttebroch was the owner of the farm with the forge. In the same year, there was another forge "Unter dem Fall" below the farm, where Hermann Hüttebroch worked until 1650.
