Hillscheider Brook

The Hillscheider Bach is a right tributary of the Rhine near Vallendar. It flows through the Westerwaldkreis and the district of Mayen-Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The Hillscheider Bach originates as Kalter Bach at the Montabaur Heights about 1.5 km southeast of the Alarmstange and about 1 km south of the Lippersberg in the city area of Montabaur at about 430 m. From here, it flows as a boundary stream between Kadenbach/Neuhäusel and Hillscheid to the southwest and changes its name to Hillscheider Bach south of Hillscheid at the municipal border with Simmern near the Grundsmühle by the old bridge. From here, it flows along and parallel to the state road 309 to the west and meets the Vallendar district of Schönstatt, where it first encounters the Pilgrim Church. Then, the Wambach joins from the left, followed on the right by the Ferbach after the Schönstattkapellchen. From the confluence of the Ferbach, the stream is also called Leerbach in Vallendar. It turns to the southwest, flows about 200 m east of the town center of Vallendar, goes into the piping about 300 m before the mouth, and empties into the right arm of the Rhine flowing around the Niederwerth municipality and Binneninsel Niederwerth.
