The landscape protection area Hengsteysee/Ruhr, southern shore with an area of 162.45 hectares, is located in the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia. The landscape protection area is situated in the Hagen district of Bathey. This LSG was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen. It extends to the city limits of Dortmund and Herdecke. To the south, it reaches the Hengstey marshalling yard or the A 1. The LSG includes parts of the Hengsteysee and Ruhr with their southern shore in the Hagen urban area.
