Het landschap beschermingsgebied Hengsteysee/Ruhr, zuidelijke oever met een oppervlakte van 162,45 ha, bevindt zich op het grondgebied van de gemeente Hagen in Noordrijn-Westfalen. Het landschap beschermingsgebied ligt in de Hagener stadswijk Bathey. Het LSG werd in 1994 aangewezen met het landschap plan van de stad Hagen door de gemeenteraad van Hagen. Het strekt zich uit tot aan de stadsgrens naar Dortmund en Herdecke. In het zuiden gaat het tot het rangeerstation Hengstey respectievelijk tot de A 1. Het LSG omvat de delen van de Hengsteysee en Ruhr met hun zuidoever in het Hagener stadsgebied.
