Everswinkel Heritage House

The listed former weaver's house on the east side of the church square was purchased by the municipality to use as a home base. When the typical peasant's house was built in 1781 by Johann Bernd Vienenkötter and his wife Anna Maria Moyman, the village population mainly consisted of so-called peasant citizens who engaged in a trade or craft and also farmed to ensure their families' nutrition. Thus, their houses rarely had a purely residential function: the agricultural or commercially used spaces were accommodated within the residential house or together formed a building unit.

The home base, with its historically faithful execution of restoration and conversion work, reminds us of the lives of people in past centuries while also fulfilling the requirements of a modern encounter center. Today, the rooms of the home base are open to clubs, associations, and social groups in Everswinkel, allowing them to hold meetings within the available space. Additionally, the home base hosts course and instructional offerings from the adult education center and the music school. The municipal administration also makes use of the special atmosphere of the building for civil wedding ceremonies.
