The new Wangerooge Lighthouse is a lighthouse and radar tower located on the island of Wangerooge, Germany. It is managed by the WSV of Wilhelmshaven.
In order to develop maritime traffic in the channel leading to the port of Wilhelmshaven, it was necessary, as early as 1960, to replace the old lighthouse with a new one in order to better mark the Wangerooger Plate sandbank before the port. In the autumn of 1966, construction of the tower began on the northwest coast of the island of Wangerooge. After three years of work, the new Wangerooge Lighthouse was put into operation on 7 November 1969. The original red and white ceramic tile cladding was replaced in 1982 by an aluminium cladding.
