Quatmannshof

The Quatmannshof is a farm built between 1803 and 1806 in Elsten, which was relocated in 1935 as the first farm complex to the Cloppenburg Museum Village. It consists of a main building in the form of a hall house and associated outbuildings.

The main building of the Quatmannshof is a hall house completed in 1806, characterized as a two-post house with extensions. It is 45 meters long and over 14 meters wide. The front gable features a threefold overhang. The exterior walls are filled with clay. The 120 m² large Flett, serving as the hearth room, is separated from the hallway by a wall. The two living rooms were heated with rear-loading stoves. Outbuildings include a fruit barn from 1777 for grains and hay, a cattle barn from 1770, a wagon shed, a bakehouse, a sheep barn, a granary, and a threshing tower with a horse mill. They surround the front gable of the main house in a right-angled arrangement. The design indicates a strong influence from the building tradition of the Artland region.
