Wide views of the Schaumberg region and the frequent alternation between forest and open countryside are the main features of this varied trail. Of cultural and historical interest is the former border between the Saar region and the German Reich, which can be experienced through numerous old boundary stones.

The trail leads through extensive wooded landscapes along the former border between the Saar region and the German Reich, as well as the former border between the Imsbach estate and the Mettnich district. It passes numerous historical boundary stones as well as the Röteldistrict between Theley and Selbach. Hikers can enjoy magnificent views of the Schaumberger Land, the Hochwald forest and as far as the Freisener Höhe. Cultural and historical sights along the way include the Imsbach estate and the Johann Adams Mill near Theley, one of the last mills in the Saarland. The tour owes its name to the history of the Imsbach estate. It experienced its heyday at the beginning of the 19th century, when Louis Lapointe received the estate in 1811 as a reward for his military successes and transformed the area around the estate into a landscaped park.
