Fürstenwalde and surroundings - industrial culture on the Spree river

Fürstenwalde has impressive industrial culture and history to offer. The water mill is a clinker brick structure built on wooden piles in 1837. This oldest industrial building in the city was in operation as VEB Spreemühle until 1990.
Julius Pintsch probably had the greatest influence on Fürstenwalde's industrial culture. On your tour, you'll see the family's villa, but you'll also cycle along the Julius Pintsch Ring, an industrial park with nearly 150 years of old industrial architecture. Pintsch is considered an industrial pioneer in lighting. During wartime, armaments were manufactured here. The factory was shipped off to the USSR as a reparation service. One of the largest GDR companies was established here as Gaselan/Chemie und Tankanlagenbau.
During a side trip to Trebus there is time for a stop at the lake. Cool your feet or unwind. Next door is the restaurant Seeblick. Then keep left and you will come across an exhibition with a variety of objects from the GDR era. In former times agricultural machines were repaired here.
Finally, you pass the former hospital, are the architecturally special housing complexes of the Bauhaus period to marvel at. The tour continues to the Bonava construction company, on the site of which Germany's largest smelting furnace tile factory once stood, and through the industrial area of the Henry Hall pump factory.
Many historic industrial buildings are unfortunately no longer preserved, such as the iron planing factory, the gasworks or the first sluices. Nevertheless, the tour will take you to the places where, among other things, housing has been built today.
