Description by the author

The Prignitz region - Waterways, Trade Routes, Pilgrimage Routes: A Bronze Age king, marauding knights and merchants shaped the millennia-old natural and cultural landscape of the Prignitz region, which is halfway between Hamburg and Berlin. The Historic Town Centres Cycle Route 3 starts in the Fontane town of Neuruppin and takes you to the battlefield of the Thirty Years’ War at Wittstock/Dosse, to the monastery walls of Heiligengrabe, to Lenzen castle in the Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve and through once important trading towns such as Perleberg, Havelberg and Wusterhausen/Dosse.
Ancient pilgrimage and trade routes cross this path, village churches tell stories about the importance of the community, and the rivers Dosse, Stepenitz and Elbe are your faithful companions. Stage maps and town maps for tourists help you find your way around.Length: 291 kilometresStart/finish: NeuruppinLogo/route sign: Logo with town silhouetteHow to get there:Train: Take the S25 from Berlin Friedrichstrasse to Hennigsdorf.
