This varied hike in the Lower Kocher Valley takes you from near-natural meadows to witnesses of the economic use of hydropower.

On the western loop (signposted W1) of the hiking trail in the Kocher Valley, you follow the path of the water to its former workplace in the Bad Friedrichshall salt works.

Although built for the commercial use of hydropower, here at the Salinenkanal you will find a small natural idyll in the immediate vicinity of the town.

The Shaft Lake, another witness to salt mining in Bad Friedrichshall, invites you to take a break in the greenery on the edge of the city forest.

The route continues along a former Roman road. The "Hohe Straße" was already highly valued by the Romans for its far-reaching views over the Kocher Valley.

On the eastern loop (no signposting), you get a little closer to rural life in the Kocher Valley. Your path leads you through the rapidly widening valley meadows of the Kocher to the plateau of the "Oedheimer Hart". You walk between meadows, fields and orchards.
