Description

We start the circular hike at the parking lot on Stresemannstraße (Itschensteg) directly at the meeting point of the Harzklub-Zweigverein Quedlinburg.

From there, we follow Stresemannstraße in a southeastern direction: straight ahead at the traffic lights, over the railway barriers, past the St. Johns Church (1906) and the St. Johns Chapel (originally from the 12th century: opposite the chapel, you can still see the enclosure of the former healing spring at Johannishain). The next building (now a residential home for Lebenshilfe) was built in the early 20th century as a correctional facility for neglected boys. At the end of Stresemannstraße, we continue straight ahead: Johannishöfer Trift. At the next intersection, we turn right: Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße.

Immediately after the block Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße 7-9, turn left and follow the path. At the end of the block, continue straight onto the dirt road (a few garages on the left, garden area on the right). The dirt road leads us out of the city into the fields. At the end of the tree-lined avenue, the path transitions into a concrete track. We follow this until we cross the L66. The road is clearly visible: nevertheless, extreme caution is advised when crossing the street! After crossing the street, continue straight on the dirt road. At the first intersection, continue straight, then past a silo from the GDR / LPG era. At the second intersection, turn right, then continue straight until the next intersection, turn left there and continue straight to the Bicklingswarte. After ascending the lookout tower, return along the same path to the intersection. Continue straight ahead from there. Follow the signs for the Warten-Rad circular route towards Aholzwarte. At the end of the dirt road, we meet the L66 again, turn left until the roundabout. At the roundabout, turn almost right (use pedestrian crossings!) and exit the roundabout towards Quedlinburg. Then turn left: dirt road to Quarmbeck (Kohlweg). Continue straight ahead, through Quarmbeck (Str. des Friedens), cross L239 and then turn right (roadside foot/cycle path), uphill and just before the summit, turn left onto the dirt road: Holzbreite. Follow Holzbreite all the way, at the end (railway crossing), turn right onto Neinstedter Feldweg, Gernröder Weg, Rambergweg, Stresemannstraße, Parking lot Stresemannstraße.
