The hike starts at the hiking parking lot directly on the main road between Roßla and Agnesdorf. The circular route follows the Karst hiking trail to the Bauerngraben. Be surprised whether it is currently filled with water or empty, as it is an episodic lake, meaning the water level fluctuates from 15 meters high to completely dry. The lake can be filled for years, but it can also be completely dry for years. In the depression of the basin, a stream flows, the Glasebach, and the filling and emptying of the Bauerngraben is explained by the complex geological system of the karst area. The Karst hiking trail runs above the basin over the steep cliff of the Bauerngraben.
