From Bad Lauterberg to Bad Sachsa. A shorter stage with enough time to visit the sights of both places. Children have fun at Märchengrund in Bad Sachsa or at Harzfalkenhof.
From Bad Lauterberg to Bad Sachsa, the 4th stage of the BaudenSteig leads. From Kurpark in Bad Lauterberg, it goes over the Oder towards Wiesenbeker Teich, a reservoir created by Lauterberg miners a long time ago. Today, there is a boat rental and a lodge for refreshment at the lakeshore. Then there are still some meters of altitude to overcome until Ravensberg. The 64 m high tower is striking. It served as a listening post during the Cold War. Just before Ravensberg is the Dreiherrenstein. Until 1866, the Kingdom of Prussia, the Kingdom of Hanover, and the Duchy of Brunswick bordered each other here. From Ravensberg (659 m above sea level), you can see as far as the Brocken and far into the Thuringian countryside on clear days. In winter, the ski center at Ravensberg attracts with truly steep descents, lovely cross-country trails, and toboggan runs. Soon you can see Bad Sachsa in the valley. As early as 1864, spa guests were sent to Sachsa by external doctors. Today, Bad Sachsa offers numerous spa facilities, a beautiful bathing landscape, and a cozy old town as a stage destination. The Harzfalkenhof and the Fairy Tale Park are also an experience for children.
Start in the center of Bad Lauterberg (S) (Haus des Gastes). Cross the Oder at Kurpark. Follow the path, then the road upwards, turn right at the top and immediately left, then right along the edge of the forest. Opposite on the slope, you can see the local mountain and on the right the Bismarck Tower. Take the first opportunity sharply left and uphill on a wide forest path to the Bremer Ruh shelter (1). Shortly turn right, immediately left downhill past a steep drop - a relic of mining. Soon steeper downhill, then left along the road to the former hotel and Wiesenbeker Teich (2). Cross the dam to Dombrowskys Baude, a lovingly decorated log cabin (refreshments). Through the campsite, then along the lake, into the Wiesental. Attention: Soon right over a green bridge, the path steeply ascends to the Hohe Tür shelter (3) (watershed Elbe/Weser). Down on a wide forest path, at the bottom right over a dam crest (4), then cross the forest road in Steinatal. Now on a narrow path to Ravensberg, cross Nesselweg and continue uphill to Judenweg. Now turn left to the Dreiherrenstein, then right and about 30 m along the road, then right again to the nearby Ravensberg summit. On the summit plateau (5) there is a beautiful view (from left to right: Bad Lauterberg, followed by Großer Knollen, the ridge Auf dem Acker with Hanskühnenburg, Achtermann, Brocken, Wurmberg to Hohegeiß). The descent to Bad Sachsa is via the Eselsweg, keep right after a few meters, until you reach Ede-Baller-Weg, here you can plan a detour to Käthe-Schulken-Hütte (6) and enjoy the view of Bad Sachsa. After a long stretch on Ede-Baller-Weg, past numerous foxglove plants that bloom beautifully in early summer, turn sharply left onto Philippsgrußweg to Philippsgrußhütte (viewpoint). Descend on a narrow path into Spuketal (caution when wet) to Märchengrund (7). Follow the path along the stream. Past the summer linden tree through the extensive spa gardens to Schmelzteich (8). Turn left on the dam crest into Kurpark to the tourist information office (9). To the right, head to the city center for dining and/or accommodation.
