Through the "chivalrous Jagst Valley" from the mouth of the Neckar to Götzenburg Castle.
The "knight with the iron hand" is encountered time and again here in the Jagst Valley. In the home of Götz von Berlichingen, magnificent views open up behind the various bends in the river. The tour is easy to manage as the cycle path almost always remains at river level. The tour can be started in Bad Friedrichshall along the Kocher and Jagst rivers in both valleys. The Neckar Valley cycle path also passes here. In the three-river salt town, the history of the "white gold" comes to life in the visitor mine. And the five castles and palaces, which can be visited as part of a guided tour, bear witness to the town's long history. The town of Neudenau enchants visitors with its beautiful half-timbered ensemble on the market square with small cafés and restaurants. The St. Gangolf Chapel, a pilgrimage church from the 13th century with historical murals, is also worth a visit.
In Möckmühl, a real gem, Götz von Berlichingen ruled as bailiff to the Duke of Württemberg around 500 years ago. Numerous half-timbered houses, the almost completely preserved town wall with its towers and the exhibits in the Town Museum bear witness to the history of the small town, which is over 1250 years old. In the summer months, the Jagsttalbühne open-air theater plays on the town wall.
Widdern is the third smallest town in Baden-Württemberg with around 2,000 inhabitants. Nestled in the Jagst and Kessach valleys, the townscape is characterized by medieval half-timbered houses. If desired, the stage can be combined with a detour to the Grünkern cycle path in the Kessach valley.
In Jagsthausen there are two castles and a fortress to marvel at. The Götzenburg became world-famous as the seat of the knight Götz von Berlichingen and later through Goethe's drama. The annual castle festival attracts numerous visitors in the summer months.
