Discover open-air facilities

To get an overview of the dead straight course of the border, it is worth climbing up to the Limes View on three futuristic viewing platforms in Hohenlohe. The reconstructed Ostkastell fort in Welzheim is also freely accessible. The open-air facilities offer beautiful resting places, whether as a stopover with a motorhome or by bike on the Limes cycle path. Knowledgeable tour guides act as "Limes Cicerones" and convey a vivid picture of the history.

Exciting museums

The Osterburken Roman Museum in the Odenwald tells the story of life on both sides of the border wall: here you will find well-preserved defensive walls, a fort and the remains of a Roman bath. Time travelers can relive the view of the Roman guard posts on the replica of a stone watchtower. The Roman House Museum in Walheim am Neckar gives an idea of how wealthy merchants may have lived. With two forts, Öhringen on the Hohenlohe plain was one of the most important locations on the Limes. Here, the Weygang Museum displays sculptures from the world of Roman gods and consecration stones. An illuminated 3D model and a monumental Limes gate take you into the world of the Romans.
