Hikers explore the beautiful village of Ratzenried along the Untere Argen. The Neumühle wooden bridge and the fish lift enrich the circular hiking trail.
The parish church of St. Georg has existed in Ratzenried since the 11th/12th century. Past the village pond, we pass through the forest to the ruins of Arnsberg Castle. The first documented mention of it dates back to 1196. On the way down into the valley, we hear the rushing of the Untere Argen and follow it to Rehmen in the direction of Dürren. The Neumühle wooden bridge, built in 1754, is now a rare river bridge. Along the water we come across the hydro fish lift. The fish are transported upwards by lift, overcoming a height of 5.50 meters. The Talerschachen hydroelectric power station, which was built 120 years ago specifically for the electrification of Wangen, is about 100 m away. After 2 km, we visit the cemetery with the crypt chapel and the 14 station monuments along the Way of the Cross. Finally, the historic castle stands out, which is now home to the Humboldt-Institut e.V.
