This tour is an extension of the hiking tour "From Maria Schray to the Mother of God's Oak". It is around 9 km longer and also leads through Schwäblishausen, past Mottschieß and via the Spitalmühle mill back to Pfullendorf.
The pilgrimage to Maria Schray has a very long tradition. The oldest existing pilgrimage report records the year 1464, when two Cistercian nuns from Wald Abbey came to Maria Schray to pray for their imprisoned brother Hans von Reischach. In 1632, the church was burned down by the Swedes. The legend of the "Mother of God Oak" in Neidlingwald probably goes back to this incident. The beautiful church of St. Peter and Paul in Zell dates back to the Romanesque period, with the oldest part dating back to the 13th century. It stands on a hill and can be seen from afar.
