The circular walk begins at the tourist information office in Bad Karlshafen, in the immediate vicinity of the Baroque harbor. At the beginning it is challenging, as it goes uphill. The route continues across the historic border triangle, past old boundary stones, with sweeping views of North Rhine-Westphalia to Krukenburg Castle above Helmarshausen. A stopover on the castle grounds, where the keep can be explored during opening hours and offers panoramic views, is well worthwhile. The route continues through Helmarshausen, past the former monastery complex and the historic HelmarsHäusern (half-timbered houses) in Steinstraße and the town tower. The trail then leads back to Bad Karlshafen along natural paths above the Diemel, where the circular route ends at the baroque harbor.
