The forest area to be explored belongs to the princely family of Bentheim-Tecklenburg, who reside at Rheda Castle. This beautiful forest served the residents as a recreational area, which was formerly referred to as a city wood.
In addition to spruce forest, this region also has beech and oak stands. Passing meadows and through poplar avenues, it is pleasant to walk along well-developed hiking trails, past wet forest areas where in spring some areas still delight the hiker with primroses.
