The stage starts in Hörstel on the western edge of the Teutoburg Forest and ends in Tecklenburg, Germany's northernmost mountain town, characterized by small alleys with lots of half-timbered houses.

The stage is 20 kilometers long and has an altitude difference of about 300 meters. The trail is varied and leads through quiet forest sections, over steep rock walls, and along the sandstone formations "Dörenther Klippen."

The stage leads for long stretches through the Teutoburg Forest and offers spectacular views of the "Nasse Dreieck," the confluence of the Ems and Mittelland Canal, and the vast lowlands of Münsterland. Sandstone is a significant part of the route and is particularly impressive in the sections up to Brochterbeck, where there are also some steep rock walls. From the picturesque village of Brochterbeck, the route passes through an old cultural landscape, whose silent witnesses in the form of old cattle areas, hedge rows, and dry stone walls lie along the wayside. On the parallel running Witch's Path, one might even encounter one of the mystical beings from the city's eventful history.

Tip: Especially sporty hikers can also take climbing courses on the steep rock walls up to Brochterbeck.

The viewing platform "Schöne Aussicht" is a popular attraction in Hörstel, offering a spectacular view of the surroundings. The Anna & Hermann listening station tells a touching story about the creation of the viewing platform and invites you to learn more about the region. The Dörenther Klippen near Ibbenbüren are a unique geological phenomenon known for their bizarre sandstone formations. They are a distinctive rock formation formed by erosion and weather influences. The Crouching Woman is particularly famous. The viewing platform at the mountain hut offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Münsterland. You can relax here and enjoy nature. The romantic half-timbered town of Tecklenburg is a popular destination, enticing visitors with its lovingly restored half-timbered houses and Germany's largest open-air stage.
