Dive into the green.
First in the Paulinenwäldchen, named after Pauline, Napoleon's sister, who also enjoyed walking here. From this period also dates the obelisk made of blue stone from 1810. It was one of the reference points for the geographer Jan Joseph Tranchot, who mapped the Rhineland on behalf of the French government.
We walk gently down into the Wurmtal valley along orchards, pastures, and sunken lanes. During the hike, we get closer and closer to the Wurm, observing it from halfway up the valley slope and being accompanied by its splashing. For over 700 years, the river powered 45 mills. At the Adamsmühle, oil was pressed and grain was ground, at the Teuterhof, mine water was pumped out, and at the Wolfsfurth, a loom was operated.
An impressive sunken lane also leaves us in awe: The beech trees on the walls of the medieval land trench date back to the old protective hedge.
