Kahlenweg (M1) Medebach

This circular hiking trail around the mountain Kahlen and through the Gelängebachtal valley impresses with a large proportion of natural forest and meadow paths.
Initially, the easy hike leads us on a paved road through open fields up to the mountain Kahlen. Looking back, we enjoy the view of the small town of Medebach with its towering church of St. Peter and Paul. At the end of the road, the Stations of the Cross path begins up to the Kahlen Chapel, but our path leads us to the left along a meadow path and then on natural paths through the mixed forest down into the Gelängebachtal valley. We listen to the babbling of the stream and, for those who are interested, can use QR codes at the stations of the Gelängebachtal nature trail to learn about the Medebacher Bucht nature reserve.
The beautiful forest path leads to the stations of the Glindfeld Cross Path, where a detour to the Hanseweg X13 up to the Kahlen Chapel is worthwhile, or one can leave the circular path to the left for a small "journey into the past" and peek through the old walls at the historic monastery walls and the former estate of Glindfeld.
Back on the actual circular path, we march, with the "Holy Mountain" on the right and a wide view of the open landscape on the left, back towards the old Hanseatic city.
