Glasträgerweg

Experience a themed hiking trail with historical sites of glassworks and glass carriers in a charming landscape that makes your hike a unique experience.

The Glass Carrier Trail is a themed hiking trail over 125 km long. It leads from the Feldberg area through the most beautiful landscapes of the southern Black Forest to the High Rhine, passing through historic glass production sites along the way. Around 20 former glassworks sites are touched and explained on information boards. The tour starts at the Glasbläserhof in Todtnau-Aftersteg, continues over the Feldberg to Schluchsee, St. Blasien and Bernau.

Finally, the Glasträgerweg continues over the Hotzenwald forest down to the High Rhine and ends in the picturesque old town of Laufenburg.

The Glass Carrier Trail project was realized by interested citizens in cooperation with the Waldshut District Office and the participating municipalities in 2001. It was supported with funds from the EU and the state of Baden-Württemberg. In the meantime, the operation and maintenance of the themed hiking trail has been discontinued. Nevertheless, you can still find and follow the traces of the glass bearers in the southern Black Forest.
