The waterfall of the Hellbach at the Hellmühle in Langenfeld is one of the highlights of the Hohensteingebiet in the Süntel and is the only natural one in Lower Saxony. The waterfalls in the Harz, on the other hand, were created by human hands. It is located at an altitude of 298 meters above sea level. The water of the Hellbach plunges 15 meters here. Until 1922, the Hellbach supplied energy for the Hellmühle built in 1782. Today, only the picturesque mill pond in front of the building reminds of this "eventful" past. After a few meters on the forest path, you will reach the viewing platform of the Langenfeld waterfall. Since the opening of the Schillat cave, the place has been enjoying increasing popularity, but still remains a "hidden gem" in one of the most beautiful hiking areas in Northern Germany.
