Elbhöhen-Tour -> Elbe Heights Tour

On both sides of the Elbe, the contrasting Elbe Heights Tour runs through the landscape along the great river. On the right bank of the Elbe between the villages of Herrenhof and Darchau, over 100-year-old fruit tree avenues line the predominantly flat path through the Neuhauser Elbmarsch. In spring, a fantastic variety of blossoms dominates the image of this cultural landscape, while in summer, the fruit trees provide refreshing shade. Two ferries will take you across the river on this tour. On the left bank, from the densely wooded Elbe Heights of Drawehn and the vineyard in Hitzacker, you will have a magnificent view of the Elbe river landscape after mastering the challenging elevation differences. For an even better view, a detour to the Kniepenberg observation tower is worthwhile! The willow meadow shrubs near Tiesmesland only hint at the once extensive floodplain forests that dominated the Elbe riverbank. Back in Hitzacker, the pretty, small half-timbered town is waiting to be explored by you.
